The name holds another meaning as well. In German, wisst means to know: a quiet acknowledgment that some knowledge cannot be taught or hurried. Wissthaven is an homage to a life shaped by aviation and to a shared love of flight that defines this place. But it is equally devoted to the sea. Here, a sailor’s memorial stands alongside marine motifs woven throughout the property, honoring those who have ventured across open water just as others have crossed open sky.
